Longshot gubernatorial hopeful Semi Bird has had some trouble keeping his campaign’s boat between the navigational beacons1 established by the Public Disclosure Commission. A recent complaint against Bird, who’s running in the far-right lane to replace Gov. Jay Inslee, alleges nearly 100 separate violations of campaign finance reporting rules.

The complaint notes that Bird has already been formally warned by the PDC twice so far since he got into the race. Most of the violations alleged can be characterized as sloppy paperwork — late filings, failing to list employment information for donors, etc. But one section of the complaint jumped out at us: In six instances, he’s taken more than the legal limit of $2,400 per donor for the primary election.
