Statewide Republican candidates limp to the finish in the cash race, except in Public Lands campaign

There’s a maxim in politics that goes something like this: Money doesn’t guarantee victory, but the lack of money surely leads to defeat. 

If that holds true, Republicans are in for a rough night on Tuesday. For example, let’s take the race for attorney general, which pits Democrat Nick Brown, a former U.S. Attorney, against Republican Pete Serrano, the mayor of Pasco and a vocal advocate for gun rights. 

Brown has raised and spent more than $2 million, which allowed him to run this ad featuring his insanely cute kids during Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night, just a week out from the election. So while most of were us savoring the bitter tears shed by Yankees fans over their team’s epic defensive collapse, we were also absorbing Brown’s resume and messaging.1
