Regular readers know we pay close attention to the money side of politics. We were intrigued to note that a previously unknown candidate for governor, former maritime executive Brian Bogen, raised nearly $100,000 in May after a very late entrance into the race.

Bogen, who spent most of his career as an executive at Saltchuk1, which is in various transportation businesses, mostly on the water, threw his hat into the race as a nonpartisan around the May filing deadline. His major opponents had been campaigning for months by then.
