The Sunday Observer: The ongoing defense of tribal gambling
Plus a new Secretary of State poll and some campaign cash tidbits
The Washington Indian Gaming Association released a study last week touting the economic benefits of tribal enterprises — including casino gambling — for the state as a whole. Not surprisingly, it found that tribes pump billions into the state economy and provide thousands of jobs.1
But we were less interested in the study as research than as a tactic in the tribes’ ongoing campaign to protect its near-monopoly on most forms of gambling in Washington State.
