Washington lawmakers have been busily winnowing the field of bills they’re considering this session. Thursday marked the first major deadline for most measures to clear committees. There’s another deadline on Monday for bills with significant fiscal impact to clear House Appropriations or Senate Ways and Means, sparking marathon hearings in those committees over the weekend.

Today we’re taking a look at some of the casualties of that process, focusing on some issues we’ve written about as well as some interesting ideas that were destined to die from the start. We’ll turn our attention to the survivors in the coming days.
