The race for Commissioner of Public Lands is getting interesting late in the game

Democratic King County Councilmember Dave Upthegrove was running this hard-hitting ad against Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler on Sunday night amongst the football highlights —or lowlights if we’re talking about that stinker of a Seahawks game.

The ad hits JHB on the former Congresswoman’s voting record on the environment.

After barely squeaking through the primary, Upthegrove, the choice of the greens, has raised more than $1.2 million compared to less than $750,000 for his opponent, who has the enthusiastic backing of the timber industry. The office is open because current Commissioner Hilary Franz ran first for governor and then for Congress before finishing out of the money in the primary.
