A tax break for greener jet fuel

Big Biofuel is looking to make greener jet fuel in Washington State to address one of the thorniest elements of decarbonizing transportation, but they want a tax break first.

Amsterdam-based SkyNRG is poised to announce a biofuel refinery somewhere in our fair state. (The exact location is hush-hush for now, but look for it to wind up at a port somewhere.)

Here’s why you should care about this: If you fly frequently, air travel is one of the biggest components of your carbon footprint. And thus far, nobody has figured out that whole battery-powered 737 problem. But tax breaks like these are predicated on the idea that the project wouldn’t get built without a boost from the taxpayers.
