If you’ve been listening to sports or talk radio in Seattle recently, you might have heard a radio spot attacking Democratic Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s record on public safety.

The ad is the work of an obscure political action committee called Bob For Bob, which we’ve been tracking since late last year. After the name, the thing that jumped out at us was the short, but interesting, donor list. At first, it was just $25,000 from Steve Gordon, the trucking magnate and conservative megadonor whose machinations in Washington politics will be familiar to Observer readers, and $10K from Fremont Dock Company of Seattle. 

Fremont Dock means Suzie Burke, the matriarch of the maritime business community in Seattle and a frequent player on the increasingly lonely rightward end of the city’s politics. 

That combination intrigued us, so we started poking around. It turns out the committee is mostly about opposition research in anticipation of a big independent expenditure campaign against Ferguson in the race for governor.
