Republican Dave Reichert’s campaign for governor floated a grim new ad over the weekend showcasing the former King County Sheriff’s strongest issue—public safety. 

The spot, which we noticed on the platform formerly known as Twitter, opens with Reichert’s deep voice speaking this line: “As sheriff, I arrested rioters, rapists, and mass murderers, locked up human traffickers who preyed on women and children.” 

Then the ad pivots to a central premise of the campaign, that decades of one-party rule by Democrats have helped make parts of Washington into lawless, dystopian hellscapes.
