Voters sent plenty of new people to Olympia last fall, but few of them got as much done as Rep. Sharlett Mena.

A Mexican-American and the daughter of two working-class immigrants, Mena is among a host of young lawmakers leading a stylistic and generational shift in the Legislature. But her performance this year shows she’s less wide-eyed newcomer trying to break down the establishment and more power player who knows how to get things done.
