State Sen. Emily Randall and Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz are leaning into abortion rights as they vie for the open House seat in the 6th Congressional District.

Both Democrats released ads highlighting the issue in the last few days, although they take markedly different approaches. 

Here’s why you should care about this: The 6th is one of the hottest races in next month’s primary. Franz has more statewide name recognition and the support of outgoing Rep. Derek Kilmer, while Randall has been racking up key endorsements, including a late nod from former Gov. Chris Gregoire this week. The candidate with the best ads and the most money to run them figures to prevail in the historically safe Democratic district.
